Privacy Policy
What we collect, why, and what we do with it.
Last updated 10 September 2026
Who this policy covers
MyCFO Advisory Pty Ltd is bound by the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it.
"We", "us" and "our" mean MyCFO Advisory. "You" means anyone who contacts us, engages us, or uses this website.
What we collect
The information we hold depends on the work you engage us for. It commonly includes:
- Your name, contact details and business role
- Tax file numbers, ABNs and other government identifiers, where we need them to lodge on your behalf
- Financial records — accounting files, bank data, payroll information and supporting documents
- Details of your entities, structures and business interests
- Correspondence between us
We collect tax file numbers only where the law allows it, and we handle them under the Privacy (Tax File Number) Rule 2015.
How we collect it
Usually directly from you: in a meeting, over the phone, by email, or through a form on this website. Sometimes we collect it from third parties where you have authorised us to, such as the Australian Taxation Office, your bank, your software provider, your solicitor or your financial adviser.
Why we collect it
To provide the services you have engaged us for, and to meet the obligations that come with them. That includes:
- Preparing and lodging financial statements, tax returns and activity statements
- Providing accounting, bookkeeping, advisory and valuation services
- Verifying your identity, as our professional and legal obligations require
- Administering our engagement with you, including billing
- Sending you information about our services, where you have asked to receive it
If you do not give us the information we ask for, we may not be able to act for you.
Who we disclose it to
We disclose personal information only where it is necessary, and only to:
- The Australian Taxation Office and other government agencies, where we are lodging or corresponding on your behalf
- Software and IT providers who host or process data for us under contract
- Other advisers involved in your affairs — your solicitor, financial adviser, bank or broker — where you have authorised it
- Our professional body or insurers, where required
- Anyone else you have consented to, or where disclosure is required or permitted by law
We do not sell personal information, and we do not disclose it for marketing by anyone else.
Overseas storage
Some of the software we use to run the practice stores data on servers outside Australia. Where that happens we take reasonable steps to ensure the provider handles your information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles. [Confirm the countries involved once the practice's software list is settled.]
Keeping it secure
We hold information in electronic and paper form, and we take reasonable steps to protect it against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. Our records are kept for at least the period the law requires — generally five years, and longer for some records — after which we destroy or de-identify them.
This website
Our website collects standard technical information such as your IP address, browser and the pages you visit. We use it to keep the site working and to understand which pages are useful. Where analytics or cookies are in use, you can block them in your browser without losing access to the content.
Accessing and correcting your information
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is wrong. Write to us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable period, and we will tell you if there is a reason we cannot give you access.
